US releases new secret documents on UFOs

The United States Department of Defense has released a second set of declassified documents related to alleged UFO sightings, reigniting the debate over unexplained aerial phenomena.

The publication was made at the behest of President Donald Trump, while the first set of documents was made public on May 8. The files include reports, photographs and videos related to what US authorities officially call "unidentified anomalous phenomena."

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the documents have fueled decades of speculation and theories about the existence of mysterious objects in the sky.

"It's time for the American people to see this for themselves," he said.

One of the key files released contains 116 pages of documentation related to a series of incidents reported near a top-secret facility in Sandia, New Mexico, during 1948–1950.

According to the Department of Defense, the file includes 209 reports of "green spheres," "discs," and "fireballs" spotted near the military base.

However, experts who have analyzed the materials published so far emphasize that there is no convincing evidence related to alien technology or extraterrestrial life. According to them, the videos and reports mainly contain previously known images and phenomena that have not yet been fully explained.

The release of these documents is part of a broader transparency process that the US government has been pursuing for decades regarding reports of unidentified flying objects./ CNA
