A record amount of 22 tons of cocaine was seized in Ecuador/ The destination where it was to be transported is revealed

A record 22 tons of cocaine was seized during an operation in Ecuador, one of the largest drug stocks in the country, which is in an internal conflict against organized crime.

According to the information, the drug was divided into 733 packages and would be transported through Asia, Europe and America.

Footage on social media showed Ecuador's armed forces distributing large quantities of cocaine in doses labeled with the names of major airlines at a site in the central Ecuadorian city of Vincennes.

The seizure comes as senior US officials are expected to visit the country, seeking stronger ties in the fight against crime, following a crackdown on gangs launched by the Ecuadorian government in which 2,700 people were arrested in 13 days.

The seizure exceeds the amount of 9.6 tons of cocaine discovered in 2021 behind a wall in the coastal city of Guayaquil, destined for shipment to Mexico and the US, with a value of about $450 million./ CNA
