Tensions are increasing with Israel and Iran/ Assassination of a senior official

The echo of the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has also reached the borders of Iran. 

Foreign media reports that a senior intelligence officer in Tehran, Mohammed Akiki, was injured in an attack in the capital and is now in intensive care at a hospital. It is reported that Akiki is in serious health condition. 

Akiki is part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the so-called Pasdaran, created in 1979 by Ayatollah Khomeini to protect the regime from internal dissident forces, but also from enemies across the border.

Meanwhile, fighting continues between the Israelis and Hamas. More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed by Hamas attacks and nearly 2,700 people in Gaza have lost their lives. So Israel has begun to evacuate residents on the border with Lebanon in the north of the country. 

The reason the border is considered insecure is because, in addition to Hamas in Gaza, Israel is also fighting Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group in Lebanon./ CNA
