Houthi rebels say Israel has attacked Yemen's capital

Yemeni Houthi rebels said Israel was carrying out heavy airstrikes on Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

It is still unclear what targets are being attacked or if there are any casualties.

Anees al-Asbahi, spokesman for the rebel-led Ministry of Health, and military spokesman Yahya Saree confirmed the September 10 attacks.

Israel has not yet reacted to these reports.

Israel has also carried out attacks in the past in response to attacks carried out by Yemeni Houthi rebels with missiles and drones towards Israel.

The Houthi rebels are backed by Iran. This Yemeni group supports Hamas and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Since the war in Gaza began in October 2023, Yemeni rebels have fired missiles and drones into Israel, and have also attacked ships in the Red Sea. /REL
