Kosovo police arrest a Syrian suspected of murder

A Syrian citizen was arrested on Tuesday in the west of Kosovo, as he is suspected of killing a man two years ago, the Kosovo Police said.

The police said that the Syrian citizen with the initials MA is suspected of killing an Iraqi citizen with the initials JH, 31 years old, in 2022 on the southern border of Kosovo, Vermica.

He was arrested in Peja after an investigation by the Prizren police and charged with the criminal offense of aggravated murder, the announcement states.

It is not clear what were the motives of the murder or how it happened.

"The suspect was interviewed and defended in silence in the presence of the defense lawyer and the translator," said the police.

The prosecutor has ordered that he be detained for 48 hours, the police said./ REL
