Greece/EC train crash to send experts to modernize railways

The deputy representative of the European Commission, Dana Spinan, during the press conference of the Commission in Brussels, expressed her openness to cooperation with Greece regarding the modernization of the railways.

"We are open and ready to cooperate with the Greek authorities at all levels as requested, in order to provide our support where needed," Spinan said.

Dana Spinan reported that the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, had a telephone conversation with the Greek Prime Minister in the morning, during which the willingness of both parties to cooperate on the modernization and improvement of railway safety in Greece was discussed. 

In this context, a group of experts from the European Commission and the European Railway Agency (ERA) will travel to Athens within the week, said the representative of the Commission./ CNA.al
