Orthodox Easter/ Kiev and Moscow exchange prisoners of war

More than 100 Ukrainian prisoners of war have been released as part of an Orthodox Easter swap with Russia. Ukraine is celebrating Easter for the second time since Moscow launched its brutal full-scale war last February.

Andriy Yermak, an adviser to Ukraine's president, announced that 130 soldiers, sailors, border guards and others captured by Moscow were returning home after a "large Easter prisoner exchange".

Mr Yermak said in a post on the Telegram network on Sunday that among those released were soldiers who fought near the town of Bakhmut, which has been at the center of the Kremlin's offensive for months.

As of press time, there is no information on how many Russian prisoners have been released. But the press office of the Wagner Group, whose mercenaries fight for the Kremlin in eastern Ukraine, released a video on Sunday showing Ukrainian prisoners of war being prepared for exchange./ VOA
