After more than 7 hours of discussions/ LDK Assembly decides on Lumir

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has survived the vote of confidence he requested on Saturday at the party's Assembly.

Abdixhiku said that the Assembly held over seven hours of discussions, while he described his continued leadership of the party as a privilege and a responsibility.

"The verdict on LDK membership was given by closed ballot, for which I am grateful, but I am also grateful for the continued support, but also the opposition in this process going forward ," he told the media after the voting process ended.

Abdixhiku said that the party has approved two political statements: one for party reorganization, and the other for the political situation in Kosovo.

Regarding the second statement, he said that the party is committed to open discussions with the entire political spectrum, with the aim of providing stability for the future of the Republic of Kosovo. He said that the party is also interested in finding consensus on the issue of the president of Kosovo.

Abdixhiku has offered the party assembly his resignation from the position of chairman, following the results recorded in the early parliamentary elections of December 28.

In this election process, the LDK won 13.24 percent of the vote - the second worst result since the war. However, some party figures have demanded his irrevocable resignation, not agreeing to a vote of confidence.

Among them is Hykmete Bajrami, who has irrevocably resigned from the position of party vice president and has requested the same from Abdixhiku.

She said after the conclusion of the Assembly's proceedings that she respects the decision made on Saturday.

"LDK is bigger than any of us."

Another member of this party, Avdullah Hoti, announced his candidacy for party chairman a few days ago, but on Saturday it seems that there were discussions only about Abdixhiku's performance.

The Democratic League of Kosovo is one of the oldest parties in Kosovo, founded in 1989 by Ibrahim Rugova. It has played a key role in the period of peaceful resistance and in the building of the country's democratic institutions. /REL
