Scary prediction: Russia could be ready to attack NATO within a few years

A senior German military official, Carsten Breuer, during a visit to Poland, stated that Russia may be militarily ready to attack NATO countries within five to eight years.

"By then, based on our analysis, Russia will have rebuilt its forces to a degree that an attack against a NATO country could be possible," Carsten Breuer told reporters.

"I'm not saying it will happen, but it could be possible," he added.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has caused the deepest crisis in Moscow's relations with the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.

But Moscow has repeatedly rejected Western suggestions that it might consider an attack on NATO as complete absurdity.

President Vladimir Putin reiterated last month that Russia had no plans for any NATO country, although he said he would shoot down any Western F-16s in Ukraine./ CNA
