China's unusual initiative to increase marriages/ University gives spring break for student relationships

A university in China is encouraging its students to fall in love during spring break, an unusual initiative in a country where the emphasis is usually on good grades.

The holidays will take place from April 1 to 6 and the message was shared via the social network WeChat by Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Aviation.

This initiative comes shortly after Chinese authorities announced the establishment of spring and autumn school holidays, in addition to the traditional summer and winter ones.

The Chinese government is trying to increase marriages, increase births, and boost domestic consumption. For this reason, more vacations and leisure time are being promoted so that people can travel and have more social activities.

Several regions and cities (such as Sichuan, Jiangsu, Suzhou and Nanjing) have already introduced plans for these holidays, mainly in April or early May./CNA
