McCaul is part of a US congressional delegation visiting Sweden, and he met with Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, who said he expects the Nordic country to join NATO in October.

Sweden, which has long maintained a neutral status on defense matters - applied for membership, along with neighboring Finland, in 2022, following the launch of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
