The head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, will leave his current post next year.

This news has been confirmed by Stoltenberg himself, who has stated to CNN that he will hand over the job in October 2024.

He was due to resign this year, but due to the Russia-Ukraine war, his term was extended by another 12 months.

Thus, next year, Stoltenberg will complete 10 years at the head of NATO.

The former Norwegian Prime Minister has declared that this is the last time that his mandate was extended.

" It is a privilege to serve as the secretary general of NATO and it is extremely meaningful, especially now, when there is a war in Europe ", he emphasized.

We recall that Jens Stoltenberg is a Norwegian politician who has served as the 13th Secretary General of NATO since 2014.

He previously served as Norway's 34th prime minister from 2000 to 2001 and again from 2005 to 2013./ CNA
