Israel is accused of killing the leader of a Palestinian militant group

A Palestinian militant group has accused Israel of killing one of its senior members in an attack in the West Bank. This group has vowed to retaliate strongly, as tensions in this area have increased.

Tamer Kilani, the leader of the Lions' Den group, was killed after a bomb planted on a motorcycle parked nearby exploded overnight on October 23.

The explosion occurred in the city of Nablus, where clashes between Palestinian militants and Israeli security forces occur almost daily.

The Israeli military has declined to comment on the blast, saying the military "operates against terror around the clock."

An army spokesman said Kilani was involved in attacks on Israelis and had previously been in prison in Israel.

The incident comes as tensions have been high for months and have worsened since Israeli forces launched a crackdown in the West Bank in March in response to a series of attacks by Palestinians in Israel.

Nineteen Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers have been killed this month, according to statistics collected by the "AFP" news agency./REL
