Trump Nominee/ Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services

President Trump's nominee, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was nominated today to serve as secretary of Health and Human Services. Kennedy's appointment was confirmed Thursday by the U.S. Senate.

The final vote was 52 to 48.

Kennedy, an environmental lawyer by profession, will now oversee a vast network of agencies that provide health coverage to millions of Americans, regulate the food industry and respond to global health threats.

Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. was born on January 17, 1954, and is a member of the famous Kennedy family. He is the son of the 46th President of the United States, Robert F. Kennedy.

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said today that Kennedy is expected to be sworn in Thursday evening at the White House. Leavitt also said that Trump is expected to sign an executive order creating a "Make America Healthy Again" commission. /CNA
