The director of health in the Municipality of Malisheva, Hajdin Berisha, told Radio Free Europe that the cases that have been assessed as more serious have been sent to the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK).

"There are one or two cases that are currently being treated at the Malisheva Family Medicine Center and their condition is stable," he said.

Berisha said that the people who were sent to KKUK "have complications", but added that he will be able to provide details about their health condition only after visiting them at the Infectious Disease Clinic and getting more information.

Asked where the poisoning is suspected to have happened, he said that "it is a business in Malishevë, it is suspected to have happened there", without giving more details.

Berisha added that the responsibility for food quality belongs to the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV).

AUV, as the highest food and veterinary authority in Kosovo, is responsible for protecting people's lives and health, through food safety, which Kosovo aims to have according to European Union standards./ Rel
