Half of Republican voters support Trump after FBI search

Half of US Republicans say federal law enforcement officials acted irresponsibly when they searched former President Donald Trump's Florida home, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The two-day poll, completed on Wednesday, suggests that Republican voters may be largely on Trump's side, despite the GOP's support for law enforcement, Reuters writes.

54% of Republican respondents said the FBI and Justice Department acted irresponsibly after the search at Trump's Mar-a-Lago mansion.

Meanwhile, 71% of Democratic voters said that the FBI has acted responsibly.

The FBI has seized secret files after a raid on former US President Donald Trump's property last week.

Agents seized 11 sets of documents, including some that were marked "TS/SCI," a designation that says the material inside the file could cause "extremely serious" harm to U.S. national security.

Trump denied any wrongdoing and said the items had been declassified./euronews
