Five people were injured during a knife attack on a bus in Siegen, Germany. Three of them are in danger.

The police said that the perpetrator was a 32-year-old woman, who was arrested. According to law enforcement agencies, "currently there is no further danger" and there is no doubt that the attack has a terrorist background.

According to the police, there were at least 40 passengers on the bus, including children and young people, who were going to participate in the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the founding of the city.

The Siegen-Wittgenstein district police urged citizens not to speculate about the background of this crime, which occurred a week after the terrorist attack by a Syrian in Solingen.

"We ask the citizens not to spread fake news on social networks or other channels and especially not to connect the attack with any terrorist background. The police have no information about this," the statement said. 

The 32-year-old has a file with the police and according to the information she suffers from a mental illness.

The Mayor of Siegen, Steffen Mues, announced via the city's website that after carefully reviewing the existing security concept, he decided that "the city's holiday, which is also a sign of democracy and freedom, will not be cancelled."

People who want to participate in various celebrations and activities are not allowed to carry knives with them, according to the municipality's website. If someone has a knife with them, they will be asked to leave immediately and will be banned from staying at the venue for the duration of the party./CNA
