Germany will send hundreds of power generators to Ukraine

Germany will send hundreds of electricity generators to Ukraine, after damage to Ukrainian infrastructure as a result of bombing by Russian forces in recent weeks.

Germany's federal agency for technical affairs has said that 150 such devices have already been delivered and another 320 will be prepared for shipment.

Russia's attacks in Ukraine have mainly focused on power plants.

As temperatures drop, millions of Ukrainians are left without heat, electricity and water.

German equipment will be sent mainly to Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson.

German authorities have said that some of them offer flexibility as the generators can be mounted in large cars.

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andriy Kostin, said days ago that Russia's attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure constitute genocide.

According to the United Nations Convention, genocide includes "the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group".

Russia denies that it has such a goal in the war that began at the end of February.

Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.

As a result of the war, thousands of people have died and millions more have been displaced from their homes./REL
