France, Germany and Poland call for visa liberalization in Kosovo
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron speak during the meeting of Western Balkan countries and EU leaders in Brussels

France, Germany and Poland, through a joint statement, have called for progress in the visa liberalization process for Kosovo.

"We call for progress regarding visa liberalization for Kosovo. Our countries are strongly committed to the Berlin Process as an additional tool to promote regional cooperation and EU membership of the Western Balkan countries," the September 16 statement said.

Këto tri shtete, të njohura si “Trekëndëshi i Vajmarit”, thonë po ashtu se një marrëveshje gjithëpërfshirëse mes Kosovës dhe Serbisë është e nevojshme për përparimin e dy vendeve.

“Ne e mbështesim plotësisht dialogun Kosovë-Serbi të udhëhequr nga BE-ja dhe theksojmë nevojën për një marrëveshje gjithëpërfshirëse që i lejon Kosovës dhe Serbisë të përparojnë në rrugët e tyre evropiane dhe të kontribuojnë në stabilitetin në rajon”, vazhdon deklarata e përbashkët.

Vendet janë pajtuar për një vizitë tripalëshe në Ballkanin Perëndimor.

Ndryshe nga të gjitha vendet e Ballkanit Perëndimor, Kosova është e vetmja që nuk ka liberalizim vizash me BE-në.

Rezerva të mëdha kanë shprehur më herët Franca dhe Holanda.

Dozens of criteria have been imposed on Kosovo, including additional ones, which, according to the European Commission, have been met. However, as of 2018, the EU states have not reached an agreement to enable Kosovars to move freely.

Currently, Kosovo only has a Stabilization-Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU, which is the only contractual agreement between the two countries.

This agreement is also the first step towards membership in the bloc./ REL
