World Bank: Rising interest rates could trigger recession in 2023

The increase in interest rates by the world's central banks could trigger a global recession in 2023, the World Bank has said.

Central banks have raised interest rates "acting with a synchronicity not seen in the last five decades" to combat rising prices, the institution said.

Recession is described as a contraction of the business cycle, and as a result there is a general decline in economic activity.
