US, new sanctions against senior Russian defense industry officials

The US State Department today announced new sanctions against Moscow as part of efforts, as the statement said, to hold the Russian government accountable for its war against Ukraine.

“Sot, po ndërmarrim veprime kundër entiteteve kryesore të mbrojtjes ruse, firmave kryesore të teknologjisë së avancuar, të cilat mbështesin bazën industriale të mbrojtjes ruse dhe infrastrukturën financiare. Po marrim gjithashtu veprime kundër një agjencie ruse të zbulimit ushtarak si dhe kundër individëve të lidhur me çështje të abuzimit të të drejtave të njeriut, si në Ukrainë ashtu edhe brenda vetë Rusisë”, vazhdonte më tej deklarata.

Departamenti i Shtetit njoftoi vendosjen e sanksioneve ndaj figurave kryesore të autoritetit të instaluar nga Rusia në territoret ukrainase që kontrollohen aktualisht nga ushtria ruse, si dhe ndaj rreth 31 entitete të mbrojtjes, teknologjisë dhe elektronikës.

The sanctions were imposed on 22 officials working for Russia in Ukraine, including five who oversaw the seizure or theft of hundreds of thousands of tons of Ukrainian grain, exacerbating food insecurity around the globe.

The department's statement mentions Maria Lvova-Belova, who is subject to US sanctions, for her links to human rights abuses, as well as her leading role in Russia's efforts to deport tens of thousands of Ukrainian children.

Since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, Moscow has been hit by harsh Western sanctions aimed at blocking the Russian war machine. Russia calls the attack on Ukraine a special military operation, aimed at the demilitarization and denazification of the neighboring country./voa
