Russian forces strike civilian infrastructure in southern regions of Ukraine

Russian troops have targeted infrastructure facilities in Ukraine's southern Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions, causing significant damage, regional officials said on November 23. This is happening as Ukraine prepares for an increase in attacks on its energy facilities during the coming winter.

The cities of Krivi Rih and Nikopol, as well as their surroundings, were hit overnight, regional governor Serhiy Lysak said on November 23, adding that there were no casualties.

"Around midnight there was an explosion in the Krivorizka neighborhood. The enemy directed the rocket at the infrastructure target. It passed without any casualties or injuries. The aggressor attacked the Chervonohrihorivka neighborhood, on the outskirts of the Nikopol region, with heavy artillery. No one was injured." , Lysak wrote on Telegram.

In Kherson, a civilian was injured by Russian shelling, the head of the city's military administration, Roman Mrochko, announced.

"Around 1 o'clock, the Russian army shelled the residential areas of Kherson from the temporarily occupied left bank. A 45-year-old man was wounded after an enemy attack and was given medical aid," Mrochko wrote in Telegram, adding that from the man's apartment was also damaged in the attack.

Russia has repeatedly shelled Kherson across the Dnieper River since withdrawing to the left bank a year ago while Ukrainian forces liberated the city.

On November 22, a 42-year-old man was killed by Russian shelling in the city center.

In the eastern regions of Kharkiv and Donetsk, Ukrainian forces fought 74 close-quarters battles over the past 24 hours, the General Staff of the Ukrainian army said in its daily report on November 23.

In Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repulsed 12 Russian attacks in and around Sinkivka, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka.

In Donetsk, Ukrainian forces continued their offensive in Bakhmut, a city that fell to Russian troops earlier this year after a bloody months-long battle.

The military said Russian forces unsuccessfully launched 42 kamikaze drones against Ukrainian positions.

Elsewhere in Donetsk, in Avdijivka, Russian forces continued to press in their unsuccessful attempt to encircle the industrial city being defended by Ukrainian forces.
