The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, spoke today about the relationship with Russia and the president of this country, Vladimir Putin.

In an interview for CNN , Erdogan said that the relationship with Russia is quite good despite the attitudes of many countries in the world, especially European ones.

"We are not at a point where we will impose sanctions on Russia, as the West has done. We are not bound by Western sanctions. We are a strong country and we have a positive relationship with Russia," he said.

Erdogan underlined that Turkey and Russia need each other in every sector and field.

Unlike the Turkish President, the leader of the opposition and his rival in the elections, Kemal Kilicdaroglu has a harsh rhetoric against Russia, which according to him is interfering and influencing the Turkish presidential elections.

"Dear Russian friends, you are behind the montages, conspiracies, deep fake content and tapes that were exposed in this country yesterday. If you want the continuation of our friendship after May 15, take your hands off the Turkish state," Kilicdaroglu said a few days ago.

He promised that his relationship with Russia and the Russian president will not be based on President Erdogan's position, but will regulate Ankara's relations with Moscow, prioritizing the state and institutional relationship before the personal one.
