The explosion at the ENEL hydropower plant in Bologna

Divers have identified the bodies of two of the four missing in the Suviana tragedy in Bologna, Italy. The serious incident happened at the Enel hydropower plant.

Thus, the number of lost lives has gone up to five. Rescuers reported harrowing scenarios.

"One of the most difficult interventions I have been called to manage in my career," said Giuseppe Petrone, national manager of the fire brigade's diving service, which coordinates all rescue teams. 

"People continue to be under water and in the dark. I saw walls 1.8 meters thick broken as if they were plaster walls. The explosion must have been terrible," added Rimini GDF diver commander Giovanni Cirmi.

"Polumbari also identified the body of the second missing person on the ninth floor of the underground. This is the fifth person who lost his life in this tragedy." This was confirmed by fire chief Carlo D'Alloppio. / CNA
