UN chief worried about reports of downing of Iranian president's helicopter

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has expressed his concern for the Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi. 

The spokesman for Guterres' office, Stephane Dujarric, said on Sunday that the UN chief was following reports of the incident with concern. 

"The Secretary General is following with concern the reports of an incident with the plane of the Iranian president, Raisi. He hopes for the safety of the President and his companions", said Dujarric. 

We recall that President Raisi was returning from a ceremony for the opening of a dam on the border of Iran with the Republic of Azerbaijan, when his helicopter made a forced and difficult landing.

Dozens of teams have been sent to the region to locate the place where the helicopter landed. The search operation is still underway, but officials say bad weather conditions are hampering efforts./ CNA
