Bank of Albania decides to keep the key interest rate unchanged

The Bank of Albania has decided to keep the key interest rate unchanged, at 2.5%.

As Governor Gent Sejko announced at a press conference, the BoA has also decided to keep the overnight deposit interest rate unchanged at 1.5% and the overnight loan interest rate at 3.5%.

"The current monetary policy stance remains appropriate for the time being. This stance enables the fulfillment of the baseline scenario projections, providing the Albanian economy with appropriate monetary conditions for returning inflation to target. It also addresses uncertainty about the future performance of the economy and inflation, allowing more time to monitor the performance of oil prices in international markets and providing the necessary flexibility for a timely response to adverse developments," Sejko emphasized.

Sejko also added that the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania will carefully and continuously monitor the situation created with prices, also based on new data, while expressing the institution's readiness to react to any risk to price stability./CNA
