Destruction is being caused in Tirana by the dumping of soil and IKMT, the institution tasked with controlling the territory, seems to have turned a blind eye.

Following citizen complaints, CNA released an exclusive video this Wednesday showing how the capital's outskirts are being destroyed.

Private entities and irresponsible individuals are dumping soil and inert materials everywhere, turning Tirana's riverbed and the sides of Arbri Street into illegal landfills.

This alarming situation is happening massively by builders, who in order to save costs are destroying the city's ecosystem.

CNA makes a direct appeal to the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, as the responsible institution that should control these entities, to immediately verify the situation at the beginning of Arbri Street and along the Tirana River.

It is time for this institution to stop trucks from unloading inert materials without any hindrance in suburban areas and to identify the builders or individuals who are committing this environmental crime.

This is not an isolated case, so IKMT must wake up and exercise its function throughout the capital, where road axes, green areas, and watercourses are turning into private landfills.
