A serious incident occurred on April 13 in Durrës, where citizen Sajmir Markja lost his life.

The authorities, specifically the Durrës Police, reported on April 14 that this citizen had died of natural causes, a heart attack.

"The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Durrës Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office for evaluation, after yesterday, in neighborhood no. 18, citizen SM, 59 years old, lost consciousness. He was taken to the Durrës Regional Hospital, but despite medical intervention, he lost his life," the police statement dated April 14 states.

First announcement by Durres Police

4 days later, on April 18, the police issued a second statement, completely different from the first, stating that Markja had been murdered and that death had not come from natural causes.

"It was suspected that he died of natural causes, after conducting investigative actions, the Police clarified the incident."

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

The 42-year-old, after a conflict over weak motives, punched the 59-year-old, who lost consciousness and fell to the asphalt, where he later died.

Specialists for the investigation of crimes against the person at the Durrës Local Police Directorate, based on reasonable suspicions created after the loss of life of the 59-year-old citizen SM, who was previously suspected of losing his life due to cardiac arrest, continued actions to clarify the cause of the loss of life.

After intensive investigative actions carried out, it resulted that citizen GK, 42 years old, on 13.04.2026, in neighborhood no. 18, Durrës, had a conflict for weak motives with citizen SM, 59 years old, and then punched him, as a result of which citizen SM lost consciousness, fell to the asphalt and later lost his life.

Initially, it was reported that this citizen lost his life due to natural causes, but after the suspicions created and from the entirety of the investigative actions carried out, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, it resulted that this citizen did not lose his life as a result of cardiac arrest.

Following the actions, citizen GK, 42 years old, resident of neighborhood no. 18, Durrës, was arrested for the criminal offense of 'Murder by negligence'.

Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, work continues on the complete legal documentation of the case.

"The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police statement dated April 18 said.

But what lies behind the two contradictory police reports?

Initially, the family of the victim Sajmir Markja were informed that he had suffered a heart attack.

Markja was taken to the hospital by several residents of neighborhood no. 18 in Durrës, where he later died.

The victim was buried on April 14th and it was only later that it was revealed what really happened and what the cause of his death was (a fact confirmed by the late announcement by the Durrës police).

Announcement for the funeral ceremony of Sajmir Markje

The event proceeds as follows:

The family members, after receiving the initial notification, went to the hospital where they found out that their relative had passed away. After this, the funeral ceremony took place on April 14, but then suspicions arose and the suspicions came from the family members themselves, who after the burial received information from a young man who had been present at the moment the event occurred and for this reason, Sajmir Markje's family members were directed to examine the cameras to discover the truth of the incident.

When the family members received the cameras, they determined that Sajmir Markja had not died from a heart attack, but had been struck.

Regarding this event, initially the judicial police officer and forensic doctor Anton Samarxhiu had said that Sajmir Markja had died of a heart attack.

The family members took footage of the debate, which CNA also has, from which it is clearly seen that Sajmir Markja was hit.

According to the investigation that CNA has conducted, it turns out that citizen Sajmir Markja had an argument with the citizen with the initials GK regarding the issue of the building's water supply pump, a debate about its price.

The debate has degraded into physical violence with consequences for Sajmir, who was hit and later lost his life. So, not from natural causes as in the first police report. And it is not the blue uniforms who have discovered the incident, but the family members after the suspicions and information they received.

In the first report, the police and the OPGJ officers hide the truth, namely the assault, and simply say that he lost consciousness and then died in the hospital. There is no event that someone actually took care to hide.

THE FACTS OF A HIDDEN CRIME

According to the facts verified by CNA, it turns out that the perpetrator of the crime, the citizen with the initials GK, is a person with a criminal record, who should have been under house arrest by a court decision. Therefore, he committed the attack after breaking his house arrest (a fact that the police did not highlight in their announcement to the media).

Data provided by the State Police indicate that the perpetrator, although under house arrest, went out to argue about the pump issue and hit his neighbor, a blow that proved fatal for Markje.

CNA was able to obtain information that the perpetrator's brother also attended his neighbor's funeral, as the perpetrator and the victim, Sajmir Markja, were neighbors.

Until the moment of the burial, nothing was known about the attack, everything was revealed when the cameras were examined.

WHO HID THE CRIME?

The blue uniforms, the judicial police officer and the forensic doctor Anton Samarxhiu covered up this criminal event and only after the family members became interested did the truth come to light.

There was also a denunciation of forensic pathologist Anton Samarxhiu on the investigative show "Fiks Fare" on March 28, 2023 regarding a fictitious report issued without seeing the patient.

You can read the denunciation here.

Forensic pathologist, Anton Samarxhiu

The coroner, Anton Samarxhiu, and the judicial police officer told Sajmir's family that he had died of a heart attack. This is also stated in the first police report, "he lost consciousness and died in hospital". They then claim to have discovered the incident, when in fact it was the suspicions and information of the family.

Second announcement by Durrës Police

It is the forensic doctor Anton Samarxhiu, the blue uniforms and the judicial police officer, who are involved in covering up a crime. The cameras show us that Sajmir was hit before he died and the above persons hid this fact.

Moreover, the author's brother attended the funeral. Everything was later revealed and today we are faced with the fact that a crime has occurred.

CNA has also provided video and materials that show that Sajmir Markja did not die from a heart attack, as initially stated by the blue uniforms, the judicial police officer, or the forensic pathologist Anton Samarxhiu. Markja was hit.

CNA has requested official information from the State Police, from the Police Supervision Agency, as to why the event was initially attempted to be presented as a death due to natural causes and why there was a second reaction from the police, days after the victim's funeral ceremony was performed.

CNA has been able to uncover a serious incident that shows that a crime was initially covered up and was committed by a perpetrator who was under house arrest and, moreover, the relatives of the murderer attended the funeral of the victim. The blue uniforms, the OPGJ and the forensic doctor have been involved in covering this serious incident for several days, which is being sought to be kept as secret as possible and closed in silence./ CNA
