The thematic audit on the availability of drugs for the treatment of tumor diseases, conducted by the Supreme State Audit Office, has revealed a series of scandals with the lack of antitumor drugs, their expiration date or other violations.

Another scandal revealed in the ALSHI report is the lack of specialized and automated equipment for the precise preparation, dosing, and mixing of drugs.

The SAI notes in its audit that the lack of these devices makes the process dependent on personnel intervention, which significantly increases the possibility of deviations in quantity or contamination.

" From the audit conducted in the Caps Sector at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center, it was found that this sector has only manual equipment and not specialized and automated equipment for the preparation, dosing and precise mixing of cytostatic drugs. The lack of automation makes the process completely dependent on manual intervention by personnel, which significantly increases the possibility of deviations in quantity, possible contamination of preparations, or mixing errors that are not easily traceable and can lead to a lack of therapeutic efficacy ," the KLSH audit states.

The SAI report also highlights that the technical equipment has not been maintained or calibrated after being included in the inventory. Maintenance and calibration would enable them to function correctly and within technical parameters.

" Furthermore, from the information made available, it results that the sector's technical equipment has not been maintained or calibrated since the moment of their inclusion in the inventory, a process that would guarantee their functioning accurately, reliably and within predetermined technical parameters ," the report states.

In the audit report, the KLSH recommends that measures be taken by the QSUNT directorate to establish a working group to conduct a technical assessment of the equipment in the Caps Sector.

" The General Director of QSUNT should take measures to establish a working group for (i) the technical assessment of the equipment of the Caps Sector and the review of the procedure for the maintenance and periodic calibration of existing equipment by assessing the need for process automation ", recommends the KLSH./CNA
