"Vjosa at critical height"/ Vengu: In Përmet and Memaliaj we

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu stated in a television appearance that the Vjosa River has reached a critical point in Përmet and Memaliaj.

Vengu said that a difficult and dynamic night is expected as the danger has not yet passed. The Minister stated that Armed Forces vehicles and personnel have been deployed and are monitoring the endangered areas.

The situation in the village of Fitore is more problematic.

 

" We are currently monitoring the Vjosa estuary. This is an intense front in the south of the country. We have had difficult hours in Delvina and Tepelena. The waters have reached critical heights in Përmet and Memaliaj. Therefore, for 48 hours we have deployed vehicles to make some reinforcements and especially in the village of Fitore. We are monitoring. We expect a dynamic night where there may be difficulties in this part of the country. We are not out of danger yet. We are in conditions where we have a stabilization, but we hope to announce a decrease.

"We have deployed armed forces and private vehicles there. I believe we have made significant improvements. For the bridge you mentioned, we have decided to wait for the floods and intervene immediately. Residents are being monitored and we will create access as soon as the front passes," said Vengu.

Our country has been facing intense rainfall for two days, which has caused numerous problems in the north and south. As a result of the rainfall, water levels have increased, and in certain areas there have been road flooding and power outages.
