GJKKO decision on Veliaj/Gjikondi: Right, delayed due to the mayor's

Lawyer Brizida Gjikondi commented for CNA on the decision of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime to proceed with the Veliaj case.

The lawyer considered it a fair decision but one that was delayed due to the machinations of the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

Gjikondi says he hopes the trial will proceed smoothly and with open doors so that the citizens of Tirana will be fully informed about every accusation and procedure related to their Mayor.

"Delayed due to Mr. Veliaj's machinations but fair. I hope that the trial will have pace and possibly be open-door, the citizens of Tirana should have full knowledge of every accusation and procedure related to their Mayor," declared Gjikondi.

In the February 9 session, the GJKKO decided to send for trial the case against the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and 29 other defendants.

Erion Veliaj faces 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses.

CNA has reported that Veliaj has postponed 15 sessions at the GJKKO using various tactics and machinations out of fear of facing justice./ CNA
