"The prisoners made strong accusations against him"/Journalist reveals

Journalist Klodiana Lala, in a television interview, revealed details about why Erion Veliaj was sent to Durres Detention Center. Lala said that the reason was the strong accusations made against him by the prisoners, which was seen as a possibility for incidents.

 

Lala also discovered that Veliaj is in a sector specifically designed for officials and can communicate very easily with other detainees such as Beqja, Çyrbja, or Bllako.

 

"The decision is made by the General Directorate of Prisons, which conducts a risk assessment. Veliaj is a senior official and there is no risk of escape."

At the time Veliaj was remanded in custody, the prisoners made strong accusations against him, and this was apparently seen as a potential for incidents and an element of risk. Because Veliaj has a residential address in Tirana, Durrës is closer.

"Beqaj, Çyrbja, Bllako, Veliaj, who are in the same sector, separated only by a wall, can communicate with each other. It is a sector made especially for officials," said Lala./ CNA
