"Impartial and balanced reporting"/ KLP calls on the media for


The High Council of Prosecutors has today issued a call to the media to provide impartial, professional and balanced reporting on the justice system.

The KLP emphasizes that in this way the authority and impartiality of the justice system in media reporting is guaranteed.

The KLP adds that for independent and professional justice to prevail in every case, fair, balanced and verified reporting is necessary.

"The High Prosecutorial Council appreciates the mission of independent media to inform the public, respecting the principle of objectivity and that of not violating human dignity, family and the protection of private life.

In order to guarantee the authority and impartiality of the justice system, the High Prosecutorial Council joins the position of the High Judicial Council in support of all prosecutors of the Republic of Albania, regarding some media reports that may result in a violation of their integrity and independence.

The labels used, the one-sided assessments, without careful and objective reviews, as required by professional journalism, deviate from impartial and balanced reporting by the media. This can lead to unprofessional reporting and a violation of public trust in justice.

"Independent and professional justice must prevail in every case, so we encourage cooperation with the media for fair, balanced and verified reporting," the KLP's response states. /CNA
