The hearing for the 'Metamorphosis' file is postponed

The court hearing for the "Metamorphosis" case is postponed.

It is reported that the reason was the lack of defense for the defendant Edmond Preka, after his lawyer resigned from representing him.

A year ago, the Special Prosecution Office closed the investigations and sent for trial the file in charge of businessman Pëllumb Gjoka and other members of the so-called structured criminal group, including Behar Brajovi? (Bajri), Edmond Preka, Astmer Bilali, Ardrit Hasanbegaj, as well as former senior police officer Oltion Bistri and former prosecutor Xhevahir Lita. They were arrested as part of the operation codenamed “Metamorphosis”, while nine others are wanted.

They are accused of one murder, five attempted murders, as well as criminal group and corruption. For the latter offense, former Kukes Chief Prosecutor Xhevahir Lita and former police officer Oltion Bistri are accused, who collaborated with members of the criminal group in exchange for monetary benefits. The investigations began in 2019 after information from Dutch, Belgian and French authorities revealed communications between members of the group on the Enchro Chat and Sky networks.

The hearing for the Metamorphosis case has been postponed to June 16, 3:00 PM. /CNA
