Rama, categorical with judges: Salary increase will not happen

Prime Minister Edi Rama has been firm regarding the judges' association's complaint about salary increases.

In the Flasim podcast, Rama stated that there will be no permanent increase in judges' salaries. "This has not happened and will not happen," the prime minister emphasized.

"Once again, the salaries of judges have remained in the dowry order. There have been absurdities that have accompanied this debate. Some associations have placed themselves in the eye of a popular cyclone and a popular dissatisfaction regarding their request to increase salaries.

The judges themselves claim that we want to reduce their salaries. Voices among them say that their salaries are being reduced because the salaries of others are being increased.

There is a salary pyramid that starts with the president and goes down.

I have been personally attacked and the government has been attacked by the authors of a statement from a judges' association who I am convinced did not consult with all the judges, saying, "What are you doing? We are not here to judge the government as a political party."

"I don't want to be controversial, I want to say that judges cannot have a permanent salary increase over others. They cannot increase their salary by +3 thousand euros, it will not happen and cannot happen, and I hope that the Constitutional Court will put its stamp on it," said Rama./ CNA
