Dozens of residents in the village of Libonik have protested today about concerns, which, according to them, come from an entity that processes used car oils. This concern, according to them, has a period of about 2-3 years, this time when the entity started its activity in this area.

The bad smell, residents say, is a permanent concern, where in the afternoon it is difficult to even go out into the village premises or even open the windows of the houses. According to them, they do not accept that the subject continues the activity, since hydrocarbons burn very close to the houses, creating problems for health.

Many requests, according to the residents, have been addressed to the institutions, but the concerns they have raised have not been taken into account. According to the residents, they have also signed petitions.

Julian Suljoti, administrator of this subject, says that the relevant institutions have come continuously for inspections and controls for the subject following the requests directed by the residents. Environmental institutions have been doing document checks, they have measured the quality of the air, where it turned out not to be harmful. According to him, he has respected every criterion by checking the institutions every 3 months for air measurement. The factory, according to Suljot, has modern technology, with filters for environmental protection. He also accepts the fact of the smell, but according to him it is not disturbing. This happens, according to the administrator, because the residents are not informed and they will try as a subject to provide a solution for the smell, which worries the residents of this area.

Contacted by phone, the inspector of the ARM in Korça, Ardit Qirici, said:
