The prosecution of Elbasan has requested the measure of 'prison arrest' for Sokol Mjacaj and for the 12 officials of IEVP Peqin who were detained after the serious event that happened in this prison.

Today, the request was submitted to the court of Elbasan for the validation of the prohibitions and the determination of the security measure.

The serious event happened on December 15, 2023.

Sokol Mjacaj, who had stayed for a period of 20 days armed with a weapon, killed Arben Lleshin and injured Ilir Shaqjan.

The prosecution announced that Mjacaj moved with the gun from the indoor premises to the ventilation premises and at the moment he was brought inside, he was not checked, which should be done according to the rules.

Among the arrested persons is the director of Peqin prison./ CNA
