The State Police informs citizens that cases of the circulation of fraudulent messages and links have been identified, which aim to take control of "WhatsApp" accounts.
Fraudsters send links with various claims, such as to vote in a contest or to confirm an action.
The user is then asked to enter the 6-digit WhatsApp verification code. This code is used by the perpetrators to register the account on another device and take control of it.
The State Police advises citizens:
Do not click on suspicious links, even if they are sent by known people;
Never share your WhatsApp verification code with anyone;
Activate the Two-Step Verification feature in the WhatsApp application;
If you suspect your account has been compromised, take immediate action to recover it and notify your contacts./ CNA
