A court hearing was held yesterday on the appeal filed by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for the suspension of pre-trial detention terms.

The suspension of pre-trial detention terms was taken on March 24, 2026, because there was a strategy by Erion Veliaj, who since July 24, 2025 has been indefinitely postponing hearings.

After the hearing, there was also a reaction from Veliaj's defendant lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, who stated that: "A practice has been installed where there is a collective punishment when a co-defendant's lawyer is absent, the detention terms of all defendants are suspended."

Plarent Ndreca knows very well that the legal case against Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj does not begin on the date he took office as a lawyer.

Before him, there was the law firm of the wife of Arben Rakipi, the head of the Magistrate's Office, which, in fact, is also the firm that has charged Veliaj with another charge, that of abuse of office by court decision, this one issued by the Tirana Administrative Court, there were also several other lawyers, up to Artan Gjermeni or even the lawyer appointed in principle.

It was all a scheme and scenario for Veliaj to get out of prison as soon as possible. Plarent Ndreca cannot play the role of a fool, as there is no collective sentence and trial, but there are several accused of several criminal offenses, the main one being Erion Veliaj, the client whom Plarent Ndreca is defending, who is himself a defendant.

Erion Veliaj's case does not start the day lawyer Plarent Ndreca left. It is Erion Veliaj and his lawyers who postponed the hearings.

It is Erion Veliaj, Plarent Ndreca's client, who is postponing the hearings again. Neither the Court nor SPAK postponed them for fun, as sometimes there was no lawyer, sometimes they did not receive the notice, sometimes they dismissed our lawyer or did not give the authorization.

These are endless delays made by Erion Veliaj on purpose, this has been verified and legally specified.

That is why the court has suspended the detention periods, because there is no judge in the world who does not understand that Erion Veliaj has been purposefully postponing hearings at the Criminal Court since July of last year.

CNA has often said that if he were even a little more manly, he would have gone to the court hearings and the trial could have been over by now, he could have been acquitted or convicted, but he chose to postpone the hearings and Plarent Ndreca knows this, Erion Veliaj knows it and everyone knows it.

If there is one issue that everyone is clear about, it is the fact that hearings have been postponed indefinitely on purpose and the law has clarified what happens in such cases, and this also happened with Erion.

Plarenti is now totally in Erion Veliaj's world, even though their worlds are now similar, as both are accused by SPAK in the GJKKO for various criminal offenses./ CNA
