"DP-SP dominate the political scene without merit"/ Kikia: The country

Journalist and analyst Mentor Kikia spoke this evening about political developments in the country. Kikia said that the two largest parties in Albania are dominating the political scene by law and not by merit.

Invited to A2 CNN, he said that the country must undergo deep reforms, while adding that a long-term Electoral Reform must be ensured and not "electoral patches three weeks before the elections."

"Currently, we are not in a situation where we simply need to remove a government that we find to be corrupt and replace it with another government. The political status quo and the status quo in political parties, I emphasize this, make necessary not just a reform, but a shake-up of the system even more powerful than that of 1992, because back then it was a shake-up without knowing what awaited us, because we had no experience."

Today Albania is in a situation where it has spent 35 years, a generation and a half, building the power of the individual and the cult of the individual, Sali Berisha and Edi Rama, and has not been able to build a functional system and a functional state. The Democratic Party's invitation for a roundtable has also reached me personally and the question I ask is: what will be discussed? What needs to be done today for Albania?

"The objective for me is not simply the removal of a prime minister. Prime ministers have been replaced, let alone replacing this prime minister with a former prime minister, but the country must undergo absolutely profound reforms. A long-term Electoral Reform must be ensured and not electoral patches three weeks before the elections.
