"A shepherd denounced him"/ How the Korça police tracked down

Journalist Glidona Daci, in an interview with the show Opinion, spoke about the incident that occurred this morning in Lozhan, Korça.

During an operation to capture wanted Violand Braçellari, officer Enea Mekolli was killed and another officer, Edison Adri, was injured.

During his speech, Daci explained how the police tracked down Braçellari. According to the journalist, the latter had lived in the area where he was found for 10 years and had a shepherd who paid him to guard the cattle.

She added that after a conflict she had with Braçellari, the shepherd had reported him to the Maliqi police. From there, it was verified that the perpetrator of the officer's murder was wanted and a task force was immediately set up to capture him.

"He had been living there for 10 years and had a shepherd, whom he paid for the cattle. The shepherd, after a conflict with him, went to the Maliq Police. Verifications revealed that he was wanted. A task force was set up and about 40 police forces participated in the operation. Initially, they called on him to surrender. As soon as he saw the police, he opened fire.

Two of the bullets hit the officer who died. The other officer was hit by a bullet in the jaw. The perpetrator himself was wounded, after the officers returned fire. He is currently in the Trauma Hospital. He had also built several greenhouses where he cultivated fruits and vegetables and kept livestock. There is still no information whether he was involved in the cultivation of narcotics," the journalist said. /CNA
