Approval of the law on tourist ports/ The EU delegation in Tirana reacts

The European Union Delegation to our country has issued a reaction regarding the approval of changes to the law on tourist ports.

In a statement to the media, the delegation states that the changes should be closely assessed by them, especially in the field of public procurement and their compatibility with EU legislation.

Among other things, it is said that the new text includes provisions present in the Law on Strategic Investors. According to them, this is a law that is expected to be repealed as part of the steps of the Reform Agenda and within the framework of the closing conditions for Chapter 27.

"We are aware that the Parliament adopted amendments to the Law "On Tourist Ports in the Republic of Albania". The amendments will need to be closely assessed by our services, particularly in the area of ??public procurement and their compliance with EU legislation, which requires transparent and competitive procedures for the award of concessions, including for ports.

"We also understand that the new text includes provisions present in the Law on Strategic Investors. This is a law that Albania is expected to repeal as part of the steps of the Reform Agenda and within the framework of the closing conditions for Chapter 27. Albania should refrain from any step that contradicts these commitments ," the delegation's response states.

After a marathon session, in the April 9 session, the majority approved the draft law on tourist ports with 76 votes in favor. /CNA
