The fire that destroyed the palace in Tirana/ The consequences left behind by the flames

A huge fire engulfed a building near "Pharmacy 10" in Tirana the day before yesterday. The flames continued for more than three hours, destroying a large part of the building. Today, CNA has obtained footage of what is left of the fire that destroyed the building.

As can be seen in the video, there is still smoke in the building, while firefighters and police are at the scene. In addition to dozens of apartments, damage has also been caused to businesses on the first floor of the building.

As a result of the fire, 11 people were taken to the emergency room, while 6 of them were hospitalized, and fortunately none of them are in danger of life. The causes of the fire are still unknown, while an investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident. In addition to the firefighting forces, two Cougar army helicopters were also deployed in the operation to extinguish the flames. 

Prime Minister Edi Rama previously stated that the building will be rebuilt 100% by the builder himself. According to Rama, the people whose property was damaged and, on the other hand, taxpayers, cannot pay for a damage that should have been covered by insurance.

Regarding the event, the construction company "Arlis Ndërtim" itself has also reacted through a statement, stating that despite not bearing any legal responsibility, within the framework of its social responsibility as a company, as well as its commitment to being close to the people who have trusted it and the affected residents, it undertakes the complete reconstruction of the facade of the building damaged by the fire as well as the reconstruction of all damaged apartments, returning them to their original condition, i.e. in the same conditions that the residents received the apartment with the keys in hand at the moment of delivery. /CNA
