Intensive road safety checks/ 6000 fines and 14 arrested in Tirana

Tirana Traffic Police intensifies controls, with the sole objective of meeting road safety parameters.

The special plan of measures is being monitored on the ground by the head of the Traffic Police Commissariat.

The plan consists of monitoring with intelligent devices and the increased presence of Traffic Police services, with the objective of carrying out checks on motor vehicle drivers, on the wearing of protective helmets and on vehicle drivers, for:

-giving priority to pedestrians, on white lines;

-not using a mobile phone while driving;

-fastening the seat belt;

- failure to drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drunk;

-respecting speed limits;

-speed moderation in residential areas;

-prevention of wrong overtaking;

-detection of incorrect parking that obstructs traffic.

During the last 72 hours:

14 drivers were arrested/criminally prosecuted for violating road traffic rules;

13 vehicles were blocked;

About 6,000 administrative measures have been imposed.

The police appeal to citizens for maximum respect for road traffic rules, as the only way to contribute to meeting road safety parameters and to prevent accidents with consequences for life and health.
