"The request to hold exams in the Albanian language is legitimate"/

During a conversation with students from North Macedonia in the Albanian Parliament, the head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, emphasized that Albania and North Macedonia share the same strategic objective, which is membership in the European Union.

Balla stated that as two NATO allies and part of the European integration process, Albania and North Macedonia should continue cooperation and advance reforms in line with European standards.

Focusing on the issue of the rights of Albanians in North Macedonia, he emphasized that Albanians are not an ethnic minority, but a state-forming community and an integral part of the state, with guaranteed rights that must be fully respected.

In this context, Balla recalled that the request of Albanian students to hold state exams in the Albanian language is legitimate.

According to him, this request is also supported by the recent European Parliament resolution on North Macedonia, which calls on the authorities to implement European standards and the spirit of the Ohrid Framework Agreement.

"These standards have been respected during the government led by the Social Democratic League of Macedonia and must continue to be respected, as the full implementation of the Ohrid Agreement remains an essential condition for strengthening democracy, interethnic coexistence and the progress of North Macedonia on the path towards the European Union ," Balla said.

He added that Albania respects and guarantees the rights of the Macedonian minority in Pustec, underlining that the protection of minority rights is a fundamental European value that should guide both countries in the integration process. /CNA
