Berisha visits Berlin, meets in the Bundestag

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has paid a visit to Berlin, where he focused on strengthening cooperation with the German CDU and denouncing the political situation in Albania.

During this visit, accompanied by the deputy chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Tomor Alizoti, Berisha participated in the 50th summer celebration of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary District of Medium-sized Enterprises, an event where Chancellor Friedrich Merz was also present.

In a media release, Berisha announced that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties with German partners and reflect the difficult situation in the country.

"In meetings at the Bundestag and CDU, I expressed gratitude for the support for Albania and the Democratic Party. I informed my interlocutors of the deep crisis the country is going through under the autocratic dictatorship of Edi Rama, as well as the government's cynical stance towards the powerful protests of Albanian youth."

During his stay in Berlin, Berisha held special meetings with senior figures in German politics, including the CDU/CSU European Policy Spokesperson, Tilman Kuban, the CDU's International Relations Office Director, Christian Kremer, and the Western Balkans Rapporteur, Peter Beyer. The leader also met with finance and budget expert Olav Gutting, former chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok, and the well-known "Bild" journalist Peter Tiede.

The visit concluded with a meeting with representatives of the Albanian diaspora in Germany, including former official Gani Dreshaj. / CNA
