Convicted of the Vajgurore Bridge massacre/ GJKKO rejects Fran Marashi's

The Special Court has rejected Fran Marashi's request regarding the objection to his placement under the "41 bis" regime.

The decision was made by Judge Erion Bani and an appeal can be filed against this decision within 15 days.

Fran Marashi has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in the Vajgurore Bridge massacre in June 1997.

A massacre in which 4 police officers and a civilian were killed, and 6 officers were also injured.

 

Announcement of the GJKKO

 

The applicant Fran Marashi on 30.01.2026 submitted to the Court the request with the subject: Objection to the order no. 620, dated 13.12.2024 of the Minister of Justice “On placing the prisoner Fran Marashi in a special regime for the exercise of rights in the high-security prison”. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with a panel composed of judge Erjon Bani, based on articles 112 and 471 point 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as decisions no. 28, dated 16.12.2008; 11, dated 05.04.2013 and no. 4, dated 23.02.2016 of the Constitutional Court, with decision 119, dated 20.02.2026, decided: Inadmissibility of the criminal request with no. 119 Fundamental Register, dated 30.01.2026, with Applicant: Fran Marashi, with subject matter: Abrogation of order no. 620, dated 13.12.2024 of the Minister of Justice “On placing the prisoner Fran Marashi in the special regime for the exercise of rights in the high-security prison” since the case has become devoid of subject matter.

An appeal may be filed against this decision, within 15 (fifteen) days, at the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, starting from the day after the notification of this decision./CNA
