Rainfall in the country/ IGJEUM: Risk of flooding from river flows

Today and tomorrow, according to IGJUM calculations, as a result of the heavy rainfall, an increase in flows is expected in all rivers of the country. In the Drin, Buna and Lake Shkodra rivers, flows are expected to increase and the risk of flooding in the Nënshkodra area is expected.

Increased flows are also expected in the Mat, Ishëm, Erzen, Shkumbin, Seman and Vjosa rivers, which could cause local flooding problems.

Storms and high rainfall intensity can create local problems in streams, as well as landslides and flooding in localized urban areas, depending on the sewage system, in the regions of Shkodër, Lezhë, Kukës, Durrës, Vlorë and Gjirokastër.

Precipitation:

This afternoon, moderate rainfall is expected in the regions of Shkodër, Lezha, Vlora and Gjirokastër, accompanied by thunderstorms, while light rainfall is expected in the other regions. Light rainfall is expected tomorrow (Saturday, the 21st).  

In the North, East and Southeast of the country, at altitudes above 1000 m above sea level, precipitation is expected to be in the form of snow.

Temperature:

Tomorrow, minimum and maximum air temperatures are expected to reach:

on the coast: 7 / 15 °C

in lowlands: 3 / 15 °C

in mountainous areas: 0 / 9 °C

Wind:

This afternoon (Friday, the 20th) and tomorrow (Saturday, the 21st) the wind is expected to blow light to moderate.
