"The court has already reached the necessary level of stability"/

The EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, held a meeting with the new President of the Constitutional Court, Fiona Papajorgji.

The meeting was made public by the EU mission in Albania through a post on social media.

The EU Ambassador has reaffirmed support for the rule of law in Albania.

Gonzato has indicated that the EU plans to make the Constitutional Court part of their future projects.

 

 

“I had the pleasure of congratulating the new President of the Constitutional Court, Fiona Papajorgji, and reconfirming our commitment to supporting the rule of law in Albania, emphasizing the key role of the Court in protecting the rights of Albanian citizens.

The court has already achieved the necessary level of stability, with two vacancies expected to be filled very soon, while continuing to maintain quality, transparency and independence as the highest justice institution in the country.

I confirmed to President Papajorgji that we plan to include the Court as a beneficiary in our future projects and to support its efforts to further harmonise judicial practice with EU law. Cooperation with the entire Albanian judicial system is essential for European integration, and the Constitutional Court remains a central partner in this process ”, said the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato.
