The Court of Fier releases Fredi Beleri from prison

The Court of Fier accepts the request of MEP Fredi Beleri for bail. Fredi Beleri will now be free to continue his duties as an MEP.

The news about the court's decision was announced by the lawyer of MEP Fredi Beleri, Geni Gjyzari. 

"The court of Fier accepted our request. The owner who has the keys to the prison gave permission to come out now after the elections", said the lawyer.

Beleri was convicted of election corruption. On May 12, 2023, he was arrested after being suspected of buying votes for the May 14 elections.

His release comes after the mayoral elections in Himare ended, where SP candidate Vangjel Tavo was declared the winner.

During the period of imprisonment, Fredi Beleri has stated several times that his arrest was political./ CNA
